Seven on the floor

Count 2+2+3. Chug the groups, accent the starts. Odd time that still stomps.

7/8 feels wrong until the grouping is in the body. Accents teach the ear where '1' is.

2+2+3

XxXxXxx

Say 'ONE-two ONE-two ONE-two-three' until you stop thinking about seven.

  1. 01

Set the metronome to 7/8, grouping 2+2+3. Tap your foot only on group starts.

  2. 02

Play muted 8ths. Accent the three group starts. That is the riff already.

  3. 03

Put an open 5 on the last group of 3 — a longer stomp to close the bar.

  4. 04

Switch grouping to 3+2+2 and feel how the riff leans the other way.
