Three over four

Play groups of three 8ths against a 4/4 click. They meet every three bars.

Polyrhythm is how prog guitar sits on a four-on-the-floor drum kit without sounding like math homework.

1. 01

   Click in 4/4 quarters. You play accented 8ths in 3: X--X--X--X--.

2. 02

   The cycle is 3 bars of 4/4 (24 8ths) before accent and click land together again.

3. 03

   Do not 'fix' it when it feels off on bar two. That rub is the point.

4. 04

   Then write a simple open-5 riff that only uses those accents.
